Unitymedia spreads news on new router rules

Liberty Global-owned German cable operator Unitymedia has added information to its website to inform subscribers about the technical and registration requirements involved in acquiring their own internet routers ahead of the opening up of the Germany market for routers on August 1.

Unitymedia has created a specific website and blog to let users know how to set up their routers.

The German parliament, the Bundestag, passed a law in November last year that forces ISPs to allow subscribers to choose their own routers or cable modems, giving users ownership of their own consumer premises equipment.
