Canal+ makes channels available on Samsung smart TV

Canal+ has integrated its MyCanal mobile app with Samsung’s range of smart TVs in France.

Owners of 2015 and 2016 Samsung smart TVs will have access to Canal+ channels via the app.

At a presentation this week, Canal+ Group distribution director Franck Cadoret said that the broadcaster hoped to sign up a million additional MyCanal subscribers thanks to its current marketing campaign, on top of the two million who currently take the service.

Cadoret told Le Figaro that between 10-15% of consuemrs were put off taking services by the need for a set-top box in the home, while 80% of subscribers would prefer a solution that did not involve a box.

Retail outlets will provide the service for €30 a month for the first two years to those purchasing a Samsung smart TV.
