Scottish commercial broadcaster STV’s catch-up service, STV Player has launched on Freeview Play, the on-demand service recently launched to complement the UK DTT free-to-air platform.
From today, Freeview Play users within STV’s licence areas can access all STV catch-up programmes for free on their Freeview Play ready set-top boxes or TV sets. STV favourites such as Coronation Street, Emmerdale and The Jonathan Ross Show will be available to view for up to 30 days after broadcast, while STV News at Six and Scotland Tonight bring viewers news and current affairs.
Bobby Hain, Director of Channels at STV, said: “We are thrilled that the STV Player is now available on Freeview Play. This deal continues to enhance our multi-platform presence and offers viewers yet another way to watch their favourite STV programmes free of charge, anytime they choose to.”
Guy North, Managing Director of Freeview, said: “We believe that Freeview Play is set to become the new normal way of watching TV and it’s great news that the STV Player has been added to the service, allowing even more viewers the freedom to choose what they watch and when they watch it.”
