Liberty Global-owned German cable operator Unitymedia is adding more HD channels to its TV offering.
The operator is adding channels – N24 HD, n-tv HD, Tele 5 HD, MTV HD, TLC HD and Kabel Eins Classics to its HD option, while religious channel Bibel HD and public service channels WDR HD and SWR HD will also join at the end of September.
Unitymedia said that research had shown that HD was one of the main drivers to incentivize subscribers to take digital services, with demand for digital services up 16.9% year-on-year, alongside smart TV sets and demand for non-linear services.
