Orange is to present a new TV and internet box, along with the HDMI dongle pioneered in Romania, in October as part of its Essentials 2020 development plan.

Orange CEO Stéphane Richard said that Orange would introduce a new box in October, without giving further details. Orange has already launched a new TV interface, dubbed Polaris. The group said it would continue to develop its multiscreen offering and would make the Chromecast-like HDMI dongle it trialled in Romania available in France “soon”.

Richard has said he will invest €15 billion in Orange’s network infrastructure between now and 2018, including €4.5 billion in its fibre network.
