Google starts sales of Nexus Player

Nexus PlayerGoogle has started US sales of its Nexus Player, a streaming media player for movies, music and videos that is the first device to run Google’s new Android TV operating system.

The device is now available through Best Buy, Fry’s Electronics, WalMart, and online through Amazon, Newegg, Staples and TigerDirect in the US, priced at US$99 (€99), Google announced yesterday.

Google first unveiled the Nexus Player – which it developed in collaboration with Asus – back in October, but suspended pre-sales of the device later the same month pending approval from the Federal Communications Commission.
