Set-top provider ADB has unveiled UnifyTV, which it describes as an application environment that provides a write once, run anywhere set of APIs for the development of multiscreen services.
UnifyTV software will underpin ADB and third-party user interfaces including the ADB Graphyne UI, with the intention of making it easier to offer a consistent look and feel across multiple screens for linear TV, OTT, DVR and on-demand content.
The UnifyTV SDK employs a single set of standards-based APIs in Javascript and C/C++ to make it easier for applications and third-party services to be written for one device and run on all platforms, according to ADB.
“Our goal is to help remove the barriers to multi-screen faced by operators and subscribers. With UnifyTV, operators have a solid software foundation on which to develop applications and services, both now and in the future, that look and feel identical, regardless of the device being used,” said Peter Balchin, CEO at ADB.
