Danish OTT services provider Xstream takes substantial investment

Copenhagen-based OTT and TV Everywhere services provider Xstream has received investment from Danish private equity fund Capidea, in a move that establishes Capidea as the majority shareholder in the firm.

Xstream said that the undisclosed investment sum will “further accelerate” plans to take its Xstream MediaMaker video management system to new markets globally.

“Xstream is now embarking on a large-scale international effort with a clear vision of further strengthening their position as the preferred provider of premium end-to-end video management system for delivery of simply smarter OTT and TV Everywhere solutions, worldwide,” the firm said.

At the same time, Lars Torpe Christoffersen, a former director at Danish telco TDC, has also invested in Xstream and becomes chairman of the board. Xstream’s CEO, Frank Thorup, remains a “significant minority shareholder” in the firm, and continues his chief executive role.
