Comux UK, the community-owned business selected by broadcast regulator Ofcom to build and operate the UK’s new local TV broadcasting platform, has named transmission services firm Arqiva among its technical infrastructure partners.
Other named partners and suppliers include: Phoenix7, which will provide licensees with the channel management software for scheduling; Techex, which will be lead technical architect for the broadcast layer, implementing the contribution, encoding, EIT insertion and transmission adaptation technologies and the core IP network; and TSL as the system integrator.
Comux has also leased buildings and facilities space from Innovation Birmingham Campus (IBC), while WarwickNet will provide a high-speed, high-bandwidth network between Comux and the licensees to support both data and voice communications.
“We are delighted to announce that we have now agreed contracts with all of our key infrastructure partners and suppliers. This means we can now offer the complete technical framework we promised to Ofcom, and the 19 local licensees, due to start broadcasting in the coming months,” said Comux CEO Ed Hall.
