Greek telco OTE reported strong TV growth in Q2, recording a 129.2% year-on-year increase in IPTV and satellite subscribers in its home market.
OTE recorded 174,964 Greek TV subscribers in the quarter, up from 76,345 for the same period last year and an increase of 26,000 compared with Q1.
“All of the increase has been coming from the company’s satellite TV service, while IPTV subscriber numbers have remained stable,” said OTE.
It added that its TV content, expanded to include British Premier League coverage in the second half of the year, “should continue to fuel its growth and market share gains in the Greek pay TV market.”
In Romania, OTE-owned RomTelecom reported a 7.3% year-on-year incresase in DTH, IPTV and cable TV subscribers, which came to 1.296 million.
Overall in the quarter OTE Group’s revenues came to €1 billion, down 10.1% year-on-year, while net income was €57.2 million, down 43.5% year-on-year.
