A new subscription over-the-top TV services launched in the Nordic region at the end of last week, with another set to follow.
Filmnet, the subscription VOD service backed by pay TV channels provider C More and broadcaster TV4 Group, launched in its beta version. Filmnet offers movies from C More, which recently signed new deals with suppliers including Fox, MGM, Paramount, NBC Universal, Sony, and HBO. The company also has agreements with NonStop Entertainment, Warner, Showtime, Miramax, Turner, Starz and the BBC. The beta version is available for Mac and PC users and will be extended to iPads in October.
Danish cable operator YouSee meanwhile confirmed it is moving ahead with SVOD service YouBio. YouSee is offering movies from C More on the platform. The service will be available to users outside YouSee’s existing cable network. YouBio will offer movie rentals as well as a subscription offering. The service will include shows from HBO and Warner Bros.
The YouBio service will be available via a Netgem box to TV viewers and will also be accessible via PCs, iPads, iPhones and Android devices.
The Nordic region has in recent months seen announcements by Netflix and HBO that they would launch OTT services.
