Samsung rolls out Fransat-integrated TVs

Fransat, Samsung and Neotion have launched an integrated satellite receiver and DTT module, meaning consumers do not need a set-top box to receive free-to-air channels in France.

Samsung’s 2012 range of TV sets will come with a CI Plus decryption module produced by Neotion and an access card for subscription-free reception of Fransat, the French satellite TV platform owned by Eutelsat. The module developed by Neotion uses Viaccess conditional access.

Fransat modules will be commercialised in France at the recommended retail price of €129.

The integrated solution is compatible initially with Samsung’s ES series of TVs. These sets use the HbbTV standard to access interactive services that will progressively be rolled out on the Fransat platform.
