Espial powers OTE’s on-demand platform

Espial has announced that Greek telco and pay TV operator OTE is using its MediaBase solution to deliver its Conn-X on-demand platform.

OTE is using MediaBase to deliver multi-tier video streaming, content delivery networking and automated asset transfer based on popularity. The telco has deployed one central site and several edge sites and Espial said OTE was benefiting from the automated, multicast content distribution capability of Espial MediaBase, which ensures the most efficient network utilisation for VOD platforms. Espial MediaBase allows OTE to store long tail content centrally and popular assets locally.

“Espial’s MediaBase VOD servers have been deployed across [OTE’s] nationwide network, which further reinforces our current market leadership position for the VOD servers across several major Tier 1 and Tier 2 service providers in EMEA” said Robert Hopkins, managing director and vice-president of sales EMEA for Espial.
