Rostelecom acquires Chuvashia operator

Russian service provider Rostelecom has acquired Infolink GC, one of the largest broadband and TV service providers in the republic of Chuvashia.

Rosetelecom’s PJSC Bashinformsvyaz subsidiary has signed an agreement to acquire 100% control of Infolink, which has been active in the state capital, Cheboksary, and the neighbouring city of Novocheboksarsk for over 20 years.

Internet, and cable and IPTV services, account for 80% of Infolink’s revenues. The company has its own fibre network serving about 25,000 homes and over 2,000 business customers, with a 12% share of internet access market and a 10% share of the pay TV market within its footprint. The company’s turnover in 2018 was in the order of RUB200 million (€2.7 million).

“The deal will expand the coverage area and strengthen Rostelecom’s position in the regional Internet access and pay TV market. In addition, we will have the possibility of additional growth by offering new digital services to current subscribers of Infolink. We also plan to increase operational efficiency by transferring the support and maintenance functions of Infolink to the integrated service centre of Rostelecom,” said Anna Shumeiko, SVP and chief of staff to the president of Rostelecom.
