Sloan’s Global Eagle completes deal, changes name

Global Eagle, the investment firm created by media veterans Harry Sloan and Jeff Sagansky, has completed its biggest deal to date and has rebranded.

The company’s acquisition of in-flight content businesses Row 44 and Frankfurt-listed Advanced Inflight Alliance (AIA) has been completed. The US$400 million (€295 million) deal was first announced last November.

“This unique business combination puts Global Eagle Entertainment at the forefront of a rapidly expanding industry sector, providing both connectivity and diverse content for airline passengers worldwide,” said Ed Shapiro, Chairman of the Boards of Row 44 and AIA and Chairman-designate of Global Eagle

Following the deal, Sloan and Sagansky’s company has been rebranded Global Entertainment.
