Canal Plus España to share Champions League with Telefónica

Canal Plus España is to make UEFA Champions League football, to which it holds the Spanish rights, available to telco Telefónica’s Imagenio IPTV service.

The deal follows a public auction open to pay TV operators to share the cost and return on investment in the rights. Canal Plus’ Champions League service will launch on August 16 as part of the Canal Plus and Imagenio offerings. Canal Plus has secured the rights to Champions League for the next three seasons.
