New AI-infused streamer Sky+ launches in Mexico

Mexican pay TV provider Sky México, majority-owned by Televisa, has launched Sky+, an AI-infused streaming service that the company says will deliver a personalised experience to users.

Sky+The subscription streaming service is delivered via Android devices and incorporates content from pay TV service Sky TV and aother streaming platforms on a single device.

Content is recommended from multiple sources based on the personalised preferences of the user, according to Televisa. The service can be viewed on the TV or on mobile devices through a Sky+ app.

Sky, which is majority owned by Televisa, with AT&T holding a minority stake, is offering a basic package including over 80 Sky TV channels that can be consumed on two devices simultaneously for a promotional price of MXP299 (US$17), and a premium package with over 100 channels and availability on three devices for MXP499.

To promote the service, Sky+ is providing access to ViX, HBO Max and Star+ at no extra cost until the end of December.

The service is 4K-enabled and coverage of football competitions includes features such as multiple camera angles to choose from.

Sports content on the service includes exclusive coverage of Spain’s LaLiga and Germany’s Bundesliga in 4K.

Users can record up to 50 hours of programming and view content aired up to 72 hours previously.

Marketing for the launch of the service included a teaser video by football manager José Mourinho released on Instagram.

“This is Sky’s most important technological evolution and is focused on providing the user with the best and most effective entertainment experience on a single device, at affordable prices for everyone, something no-one else does in Mexico. That means Sky+,” said Luis Malvido, CEO of Sky for Mexico and Central America.
