Media Prima chooses Irdeto

Malaysian media company Media Prima has selected Irdeto as its Multi-DRM and anti-piracy service provider.

Irdeto says the move will enable Media Prima to grow the user base of Tonton, its streaming video service, and safeguard its original production content and live events from unauthorized access and redistribution in a time of explosive customer appetite for streaming video consumption.

The OTT video market in Malaysia is expected to grow at an annual rate of 12.4%, according to Statista, as cited by Irdeto.

With Irdeto’s Online Piracy Detection (OPD) services, Media Prima will ramp up its efforts at combatting video piracy. OPD’s scalable, cloud-based automated crawling technology and team will be used by the company to identify video piracy and track down and disrupt video pirates and their supply chains.

Meanwhile, Media Broadcast, Germany’s largest nationwide service provider for the broadcasting and media sector, has signed up to a strategic partnership with Irdeto.

Media Broadcast is a freenet AG company and, as Germany’s largest nationwide service provider for the broadcasting and media industry, plays a key role in driving the German media industry’s evolution. The company plans, sets up and operates multimedia transmission platforms for TV and radio based on modern transmitter, cable and satellite networks.

Media Broadcast is the market leader in terrestrial radio and television broadcasting (DAB+ and DVB-T2 HD) and markets the freenet TV platform. The company also connects broadcasters with its fibre network and broadcasts live events for TV stations and companies.
