According to Broadpeak, the use of its tech can facilitate the delivery of live sports events with increased bandwidth savings for ISPs and better quality of experience.

DAZN chief technology officer Sandeep Tiku said: “Over the last two years, we have been delivering live OTT sports content using Broadpeak’s multicast ABR solution and we’ve seen incredible results. For the ISPs we partner with, the amount of saved bandwidth is significant, and we plan to leverage multicast ABR in other ISP’s networks in Europe whenever possible. We look forward to working with other operators in Europe on proof of concepts that can be set up very quickly to highlight how mABR enables high-quality streaming of highly popular content.”

According to Broadpeak, its nanoCDN solution supports live sports streaming, including 4K content, on many devices, including telco set-top boxes, Android TV, Tizen and WebOS connected TVs, and tablets, via the DAZN app. By collaborating with operators and utilising mABR on its networks, says Broadpeak, “DAZN can achieve superior quality for subscribers, dramatically reduce buffering, crushing playback problems, and helping eliminate live traffic peaks on the ISPs’ networks.”

NanoCDN also benefits operators, reducing traffic by up to 90% in some parts of the network and allowing more sustainable live sports streaming by reducing the infrastructure deployed. “Our success story with DAZN proves that multicast ABR is a game changer for live OTT streaming, solving traditional problems related to scalability and QoE,” said Jacques Le Mancq, CEO at Broadpeak.
