Brightcove boosts services arm with senior appointment

Video technology outfit Brightcove has named Bill Martens as its new SVP of strategic solutions and services.

He will lead Brightcove’s services organisation to help scale its services business and drive leading solutions for their customers.

Martens  is a media, streaming and technology executive with 20-plus years of experience in the US and overseas.

Most recently, he was chief business officer, studios at Group Black, a media collective and start up working to address racial inequity in the media industry through the deployment of US$500 million in advertising pledges from agencies and brands.

Prior to that he was chief growth officer at Holler Technologies, which distributed contextual branded content via messaging applications.

Before that Martens was managing director, Europe at Disney Streaming Services (formerly MLB Advanced Media / BAMTECH), where he led the division’s international expansion by launching an Amsterdam-based technology services joint venture with Discovery Communications.

In that role, he re-launched Eurosport Player, a leading European direct to consumer sports service, which featured the first all-digital Olympics at Pyongyang 2018, with every event available live and on demand in 16 languages and more than 50 countries, as well as hundreds of major European sporting events, including Bundesliga matches and Wimbledon.
