Mediaset secures Americas Cup rights

MediaForEurope-owned Mediaset Italia has secured rights to broadcast the 37th edition of sailing event The Americas Cup next year.

The Italian broadcaster will air the event free-to-view on its Italia Uno and Channel 20 channels. The event is expected to attract interest in Italy from the participation of Italian boat Luna Rossa.

The start of the Americas Cup will be broadcast live from Barcelona on August 22 2024 until the end of October.

Ahead of the competition, Mediaset will broadcast preliminary regattas on Channel 20, with events on September 14-17 2023, in Vilanova and La Geltrù, Spain, and from November 29-December 2, 2023, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Luna Rossa will be in competition with Britain’s Ineos Britannia, Switzerland’s Alinghi, the U.S.-based American Magic and France’s K-Challenge Racing.
