Streamer Skweek and L’Équipe DTT channel to share LNB basketball in France

skweek lnbFrance’s Ligue Nationale de Basketball (LNB) has signed a seven-year deal to make its Betclic Elite national championship available via L’Équipe digital-terrestrial TV channel and streaming platform Skweek.

Coverage of the LNB’s tournament will be produced by L’Équipe-owned production outfit 21 Production.

Skweek is the official streamer for the EuroLeauge and EuroCup basketball tournaments in France.

L’Équipe, the TV channel of the sports publication of the same name, will air one match from the regular season each Sunday, 10 play-off matches including the finals, three matches from the Leaders Cup and the tournament’s All Star Game.

Monaco-based Skweek will offer a range of content focused at the weekend, including all regular season martches from the Betclic Elite championship, the playoffs, finals, Leaders Cup and All Star Game.

The competition was previously aired by beIN Sports and France 3 Régions.

“This historic agreement, until 2030, with L’Equipe channel and Skweek shows the unprecedented attractiveness of the Betclic Elite. I am delighted with this long-term engagement that is going to enable the clubs to further their development and professional basketball to expand its reach still further and multiply its exposure. Jérôme Saporito, TV director at L’Équipe, said that the deal would boost the channels line-up of rights and that 21 Production wold deliver an innovative and sustainable coverage of the championship.

Oleg Petrov, CEO of Skweek, said that the agreement marked an important stage in the development of the streaming platform, which would now become the incontestable destination for fans of basketball in France.
