SF Anytime buys Nuuday’s Blockbuster

Swedish SVOD service SF Anytime has bought Danish streaming service Blockbuster from owner Nuuday.

SF Anytime will acquire all of Blockbuster’s customer relationships along with the brand, following the deal. The two companies will continue to operate under their own brands, but will offer a unified and broader content to their customers.

The sale strengthens SF Anytime’s position in the Danish and Nordic markets.

According to SF Anytime, the streamer offers the largest content library in the Nordics. SF Anytime is also distributed through TV operators in the Nordic region and will handle the distribution of Blockbuster via the Danish TV operator YouSee.

“The two businesses complement each other very well as SF Anytime has its strength in Sweden and Blockbuster’s focus is on the Danish market. Our combined experience together with our technical know-how and broad offering creates a better service for millions of households in the Nordics,” said Michael Holmberg, CEO of SF Anytime.

Jens Grønlund, executive vice president at Nuuday added,“Blockbuster has undergone strong business development under Nuuday’s ownership, and we are proud to be able to hand over a Danish market leader in digital rental and purchase movies to SF Anytime, which we are convinced is a better long-term strategic owner of Blockbuster.”
