Lionsgate+ joins Samsung-backed platforms in UK, Ireland and LatAm

Streaming service Lionsgate+ is now available on Samsung Smart TVs, smart monitors, projectors and other Tizen OS-powered devices following a new partnership agreement spanning the UK, Ireland and major Latin American markets.

Commenting, Darren Nielson, EVP, international networks for Starz, said: “We are continuing to build on Lionsgate+’s presence across Latin America, the UK and Ireland and offer consumers a range of touchpoints, so we are delighted to make our slate of entertainment available via Samsung’s Tizen-powered devices. Samsung’s global reach and premium devices make them an ideal partner for us.”

To date, around 200 million people from 197 countries are using Samsung Smart TVs powered by Tizen, an open source software platform. The OS is seen as a key part of Samsung’s strategy to extend its footprint beyond its own device ecosystem.

Lionsgate+ says it is available “on a multitude of platforms including its D2C app in more than a dozen countries”, The platform, which carries scripted series like Outlander and The Great, scaled backed its global rollout of the platform last year – pulling out of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Benelux, the Nordics and Japan.
