Paramount sets Pluto TV Canada launch date

Paramount Global has set December 1 as the launch date for FAST streamer Pluto TV in Canada.

The service’s expansion to the country was revealed in June, with Pluto launching in partnership with Corus Entertainment.

A release from Paramount said that Pluto’s Canadian debut will be its “most robust content offering at launch to-date” with 100 curated channels and over 20,000 hours of content. At launch, the streamer will have channels dedicated to properties such as Chopped Canada, NCIS and Judge Judy, along with genre-dedicated channels like Pluto TV Comedy, Pluto TV Drama and Pluto TV Action.

Corus will serve as Pluto’s ad representative in Canada, with the service also offering a curated slate of Corus Original library series that span a variety of genres.

Olivier Jollet, EVP & International GM for Pluto TV at Paramount Global, said: “I couldn’t be more excited to officially announce Pluto TV’s Canadian launch date, December 1. Our initial channel lineup further illustrates how we are working to combine Corus’ incredible local content offering with Pluto TV’s global content, to meet the tastes of the Canadian audience.

“I’m confident that Pluto TV will quickly become a new destination both for fans of curated content as well as for clients and partners interested in investing in a new and unique streaming service upon its launch.”
