Setanta extends UFC rights deal in Ukraine

Setanta Sports has agreed to extend its broadcast rights deal with the UFC in Ukraine.

The broadcaster will carry live events from the MMA promoter through to 2024. Setanta will also broadcast shoulder programming such as UFC Connected and Reloaded.

This extends a deal which was first agreed in 2019, and makes up a sports rights portfolio that includes Premier League, Bundesliga, Belgian League, Scottish Premiership, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, English Football League, Formula 1, WTA, ATP, Wimbledon, NBA, NHL, Euroleague, Diamond League, Formula E, NASCAR, European Tour and The Masters.

Dwyer McCaughley, Chief Executive Officer of Setanta Sports, said: “When Setanta Sports launched in Ukraine in 2019, securing the broadcast rights for UFC was a priority. In the last two years our partnership with UFC has seen the sport grow in popularity in Ukraine due to the quality of the competition and the high end production of events. We are excited to have signed an extension to the rights which confirms Setanta Sports as the home of UFC up to the end of 2024. Offering a wide range of sports from around the world with expert Ukrainian language commentary will cement Setanta Sports position as the premier  international sports broadcaster in Ukraine.”

David Shaw, UFC Senior Vice President, International and Content commented: “UFC and Setanta Sports have a long-standing relationship in Ukraine and we are thrilled to continue building the sport of MMA and the UFC brand through this broadcast extension. Setanta Sports commitment to UFC will give fans in Ukraine the best viewing experience in Ukrainian language as we continue to deliver over 40 live UFC events a year to our dedicated fanbase.”
