Romania-based international service provider RCS&RDS/Digi has posted strong first quarter results, with growth in revenue-generating units, revenues and earnings.

The operator did not break out numbers for Hungary, noting that it was paying attention to developments in that market. In Italy, its MVNO operation grew its base from 230,000 to 268,000 year-on-year.

Overall revenues were up 8.6% to €340.2 million, while adjusted EBITDA was up 6.8% to €122.5 million.

“We are pleased that the results of the first quarter of 2021 have shown a continuous and sustainable growth of our operations. We are grateful to our customers, Digi teams and partners for the opportunity to achieve these results. We continue to adapt, in these difficult times, to address market readjustments due to the pandemic crisis, changing consumer needs, regulatory uncertainty and a lack of social and economic predictability,” said Serghei Bulgac, CEO of Digi Communications.

“Our priority was to strengthen the market positions obtained, to expand the fixed and mobile networks in all our markets, to diversify the offers and the portfolio in order to satisfy the growing needs of our clients. The expansion of our customer base is proof that Digit is the first choice for millions of internet, cable TV, mobile voice and data users.”
