John Honeycutt, the former Discovery and Fox exec, has been appointed as the chair of the IBC Council, the event organiser has announced.
The industry veteran has been a member of the Council since 2014, and will play a significant role in aiding in the staging of the 2021 IBC show. He succeeds Naomi Climer, who held the position for five years.
Honeycutt has held c-level roles at broadcasters and operators including Discovery, Fox, and Liberty Media. His appointment comes after a year-long sabbatical after 14 months at Google as VP of telecommunications of media and entertainment and gaming.
Of this new role, Honeycutt said: “I am very excited to be taking on the Chair at a time when IBC has the opportunity to re-invent itself to meet the needs of the industry as it emerges from the challenges of Covid.”
IBC CEO Michael Crimp said: “I am delighted to see John take the chair role. I am looking forward to working together to shape the future of IBC and explore new ways of collaborating with our media industry colleagues to create connections and value.”
