Turk Telekom picks Altimedia as middleware provider in IPTV overhaul

Turk Telekom, the second largest pay TV operator in Turkey, has selected Altimedia as its set-top box software provider.

The partnership builds on one signed with the ZTE consortium to develop a new IPTV ecosystem that promises to enhance its service experience and flexible expansion and the integrated terminal platform includes upgrades on one million legacy set-top boxes installed in the field, including interworking with the newly built ZTE system.

Within this project, Altimedia is tasked with securing source tech for device SW platform, developing the UX, handling media security and headend, and implementing voice-assisted AI solutions. Turk Telecom plans for this project to be completed this year, including the STB middleware integration.

Brian Koo, head of the European Business of Altimedia, said: “Needs of replacements or upgrades from the first-generation digital broadcasting platforms built more than a decade ago are emerging. We plan to continuously promote Altimedia’s proven solutions and migration experiences to the market. And for Turk Telekom, we expect this new project would be another promising milestone on top of the previous STB middleware project successfully completed in 2019 with Turk Telekom Group.”
