NOS deploys Media Distillery’s UX-enhancing tech

NOS has announced a deal with Amsterdam-based AI tech provider Media Distillery.

The partnership will see the Portuguese cable operator employ Media Distillery’s Deep Content Understanding tech which promises to enhance its user experience via the creation of a ‘linear on demand’ viewing experience.

Media Distillery says that its platform can analyse video content in real time to determine relevant topics, events and specific time markers. NOS has implemented Media Distillery’s EPG Correction product on its 70 most popular TV channels to create a consistent smooth experience across channels.

The product is also being deployed for the insertion of pre-roll ads on NOS’ catch-up service.

Joao Ferreira, Director of Innovation Services at NOS, said: “With rapidly increasing usage of our replay platform, we strive to offer our customers the most enhanced service possible. Thanks to the Media Distillery technology, NOS is now confident to offer to our customers a supreme user experience which will lead to an increased customer engagement. We look forward to continuing to innovate with Media Distillery.”

Media Distillery CEO Roland Sars, said: “We are proud to partner with NOS to build a more compelling replay environment in which consumers can navigate programmes with an ultimate user experience. Our goal is to let consumers discover relevant content in the shortest time possible, and we are confident that our technology will increase the customer satisfaction of NOS’ customers.”

The announcement comes several weeks after Media Distillery secured €3 million in funding from entrepreneurs and execs from across the industry. That funding, it said, would go towards further improving the company’s Deep Content Understanding tech.
