Liberty Global-owned UPC Switzerland has acquired local cable networks in Glarus, Kaltbrunn and Weggis-Vitznau-Gersau.
The acqusitions bring a total of around 13,000 households to which UPC services were previously available via partner networks. Subscribers continue to be able to benefit from the UPC portfolio, which will now be offered from a single source, the company said.
UPC has been a long-standing provider of services to the three networks
Technische Betriebe Glarus (tb.glarus), Fernsehgenossenschaft Kaltbrunn (FGK) and Genossenschaft Antennenanlage Weggis-Vitznau-Gersau (GAWVG).
“The aim is to ensure that the communications infrastructure continues to meet the challenges and demands of digitalisation. UPC is ideally equipped for future digital trends and can also perfectly meet future customer needs,” said Martin Zopfi-Glarner, Managing Director of tb.glarus.
Christophe Millet, Head of Partner Networks at UPC, said: “These three acquisitions allow us to strengthen our presence as an infrastructure provider. In addition, we are pleased to be able to provide our innovative products and services to the residents at these locations, based on a future-proof infrastructure.”
