AMC ties up Globecast deal for EMEA channel distribution

AMC International UK (AMCNI UK) has announced a deal with Globecast to provide playout and distribution services for its 21 EMEA channels.

AMCNI, a new customer for Globecast, is a prolific broadcaster across the continent and offers a wide range of channels such as JimJam, AMC, Film+, Filmcafe, Film Mánia, MGM, Sport1, Sport2, Minimax, Spektrum, Spektrum Home, TV Paprika and German pay TV channel KinoweltTV.

The playout is handled using a combination of software-based technology and the cloud and playout servers. Operating out of London, AMCNI will supply long- and short-form content directly to the playout system, with content stored in the cloud. Globecast also supplies full channel monitoring, providing the broadcaster with greater visibility.

Juliet Bayliss, sales director at Globecast, said: “We are very pleased to be partnering with AMCNI UK on such a major and complex project. All our years of experience in both playout and distribution came to the fore and we are happy that AMCNI UK recognised our ability to rise to the challenge.”

Andreea Buga, VP of operations at AMCNI UK, said: “We aimed for an innovative model that allowed us to take advantage of the modern broadcast technologies and helped us converge our linear and non-linear workflows. Globecast’s flexible and technically creative approach, combined with their well-established satellite and terrestrial distribution infrastructure, has provided the ideal solution for us.”
