Lionsgate-owned Starz has announced the hire of Jose Calderoni in the newly-created role of SVP of international marketing for the Starz International Digital Networks team.
Operating out of the company’s Santa Monica office, Calderoni will lead the international marketing effort of the Starzplay OTT product across more than 30 European and Latin American countries.
The exec joins from Netflix where he served as marketing and social director for North Latin America, and previously held positions at Telefonica, Movistar and Volaris airlines.
Calderoni will report to executive vice president of International Digital Networks Superna Kalle, who said: “Jose’s strong record of elevating brands internationally is perfect to scale Starzplay as we strengthen our presence in each country – his remit is to elevate our brand and programming to drive subscription.”
The appointment comes as Starzplay continues its rapid expansion across 20 countries in 2020. The D2C app launched in the UK and France in November.
