CH Media is set to become the largest private TV provider in Switzerland with the acquisition of 3 Plus.

The 3 Plus channel group – made up of 3+, 4+, 5+ and 6+ – adds to CH Media’s existing portfolio of TV24, TV25 and S1 along with a range of regional TV channels. In 2019, the national TV stations jointly reached a daily net reach of over 800,000 viewers and a market share of 10.4% in the advertising-relevant target group. Together with the regional TV stations, CH Media reaches 1.1 million viewers daily.

Terms of the deal have remained undisclosed.

Roger Elsener, CH Media director of TV, radio and film distribution said: “I am very pleased that we are now not only number 1 on Swiss private radio, but also new to Swiss private TV. I would like to welcome the successful 3 Plus channel group to CH Media. We believe in the future of moving images and entertainment. Together, we have even greater growth opportunities and will invest in new, innovative offerings.”

Dominik Kaiser, who founded 3 Plus in 2006, will remain with the company as a senior advisor and will assist with the further development of the national TV business. He said: “CH Media is the ideal partner to lead the 3 Plus Group into the future. Planned is a further expansion of existing channels. So a great opportunity for my great team. Together, the stations will continue to grow and move a lot in Switzerland.”

CH Media CEO Axel Wüstmann said: “With the acquisition of the 3 Plus broadcasting group, we have reached a milestone for CH Media. And that, just one year after the founding of our joint venture CH Media.”
