ProSiebenSat.1 and Discovery partner with 3SS for Joyn UI

ProSiebenSat.1 and Discovery have announced that 3 Screen Solutions (3SS) has been chosen to provide “development, engineering and integration” for Joyn, the newly launched streaming service in Germany.

Joyn (formerly 7TV) was launched last month as a multi-channel entertainment streaming platform that bundles live streams and on-demand contents of more than 50 channels from ProSiebenSat.1 and Discovery as well as 15 other content partners. The companies claim that Joyn has Germany’s largest range of free-TV content.

3SS is a software solutions provider for OTT service providers, with its 3READY Android STB + Multiscreen Solution being employed by broadcasters and operators globally.

For Joyn, 3SS has been tasked with developing the web front end based on the 3READY UI framework. 3SS also supported the Joyn engineering team in the development phase of the Apps for iOS, Android mobile, Apple TV, Fire TV, Android TV and other smart TV devices.

“Consumers today need their TV services to be easy-to use, with all viewing choices presented in a unified and engaging way, and making that content easily discoverable and accessible,” said Kai-Christian Borchers, managing director of 3SS.

“We are proud to have been selected to help Joyn’s audiences watch the service’s huge array of programming wherever they choose, on any device.”

ProSiebenSat.1 and Discovery have said that aim has been designed “to create a comprehensive German OTT platform for multi-channel content”. New features and content will be added continuously until the winter, and the content of maxdome and the Eurosport Player will be integrated into the platform.
