Eleven Sports names Proximus exec as business development chief for Belgium

Sports broadcaster Eleven Sports has named Massimo D’Amario as head of business development and sponsorship in Belgium and Luxembourg.

D’Amario joins Eleven from Belgian telco Proximus, where he was managing director of Proximus Media House.

 At Proximus, D’Amario, who will join Eleven on August 1, was responsible for rights acquisition, sports strategy and the production of all sports channels and played a key part in positioning Proximus Sports in the Belgian market through the acquisition of local and international rights such as the Jupiler Pro League and UEFA Champions League.

At Eleven he will replace Guillaume Collard ,who was appointed as managing director of Eleven Sports in Belgium and Luxembourg in April. Collard is combining this new role with his position as head of acquisitions for the Eleven Sports Group.

D’Amario will be charged with exploring new business opportunities and assisting Collard with content strategy, the acquisition of new rights, commercial partnerships and sponsorship strategy.

Collard said: “Massimo is vastly experienced in the sports media industry and brings very strong expertise in several key business areas. This appointment highlights Eleven Sports’ ambition in Belgium and Luxembourg. By welcoming Massimo to our team, we are we are very well placed to build on the strong foundations we have already built in Belgium and in the international sports market.”

D’Amario, said: “I am very happy to join the Eleven Sports team and I am excited to help the development of this young and dynamic team with my experience and positive energy. My aim is to grow and diversify Eleven Sports’ revenue streams, strengthening Eleven’s position in the Belgian market and building on the excellent work that has already been done.”
