Salzburg taps Ocilion for next-generation TV launch

Austrian utility and service provider Salzburg AG has tapped technology outfit Ocilion to provide its IPTV system.

Ocilion said it was providing Salzburg with a tailored system that is integrated into the company’s existing infrastructure and hosted on site.

The IPTV platform includes software, tablet and smartphone apps and 4K UHD set-tops.

Ocilion said the project was currently being implemented and the new service would be commercially available later this year.

Salzburg already provides TV services to 130,000 customers in the state of Salzburg and parts of neighbouring Styria.

Hans Kühberger, managing director of Ocilion IPTV Technologies said that the company had been able to convince Austria’s third-largest network provider of the merits of its flexible IPTV solution in a short time, based on innovation and its strong local presence.

Salzburg AG is a major utility company supplying the city and state of Salzburg that provides a range of services including electricity, natural gas and water as well as public transport and telecommunication services, including TV.
