SPI International extends CEE reach with StarNet deal

Channel provider SPI International/FilmBox has signed its first channel distribution agreement with Moldovan service provider StarNet, which will carry seven international HD thematic channels from SPI’s portfolio.

SPI’s entry into Moldova is in line with its strategic business decision to keep expanding its reach into the eastern European region.

StarNet subscribers in Moldova will gain instant access to channels including fight sports service FightBox HD, extreme sports channel Fast&FunBox, factual channel DocuBox, gaming and eSports channel Gametoon HD, adult channels Erox and Eroxxx, and lifestyle channel FashionBox.

DocuBox will be available with Romanian subtitles whereas the other channels will be available in English with no subtitles. All seven SPI/FilmBox channels are included in StarNet’s EBT package.

“I am proud to announce our first partnership agreement with StarNet. It’s been one of SPI’s top business goals to offer people of the Republic of Moldova some of the most compelling and exciting HD content in the world. Today, we’ve achieved that goal. These are the first steps into what we hope will be a long-lasting and vibrant partnership between SPI International and StarNet,” said Tamás Fülöp CE regional director of operation at SPI International.

“StarNet is committed to provide the most innovative digital TV service and the most exciting content. Thanks to our partnership with SPI International, we came closer to our goals. Our clients will be able to watch some of the most exciting international TV programmes. We will not stop here, we are sure that this important partnership will have a remarkable future,” said Alexei Munteanu, director of TV Box.
