T-Hrvatski Telekom secures approval for Evotv acquisition

Croatian regulator HAKOM has approved Deutsche Telekom-owned T-Hrvatski Telekom’s acquisition of digital-terrestrial pay TV outfit Evotv.

T-Hrvatski Telekom said that the approval was conditional on certain remedial measure to eliminate possible anti-competitive impacts.

Evotv has operated a pay -DTT business since 2012 and had 71,195 customers as of June last year. The company posted revenues of HRK57 million in 2017, with a 6% share of the pay TV market.

Davor Tomašković, CEO of T-Hrvatski Telekom, said he was “exceptionally pleased” with the decision, adding that the company had been of the view that the acquisition would not have a negative impact on the market. He said that the measures taken by the operator to secure regulatory approval had demonstrated that the acquisition could be completed without a negative impact.

T-Hrvatski Telekom signed an agreement to acquire HP Production, the owner of Evotv, from Hrvatska Pošta last November.

T-Hrvatski Telekom is the leading player in pay TV in Croatia with its MAXtv IPTV offering. Evotv offers around 50 channels in a number of thematic packages.
