Mediapro targets Spanish-speaking eSports fans with U-BEAT service

Spanish broadcaster and producer Mediapro is launching a new eSports OTT TV service targeted at Spanish-speaking fans worldwide, U-BEAT, which managing partner Tatxo Benet has described as “a significant step” in its development of its eSports strategy.

Mediapro used the Barcelona World Games, a major eSports event currently running in Medapro’s home city, to present the new live and VOD service. Benet said that Mediapro saw eSports “as part of our policy of constant innovation in all lines of business” that would be “part of the natural evolution of Mediapro, which also wants to be a leader in this field”.

U-BEAT, a Spanish-language eSports service for the international market, will be targeted at consumption of video on mobile devices. The service will air over 3,000 hours of competitive play along with news and entertainment content around eSports, including exclusive original content.

The service will offer exclusive coverage of competitions around League of Legends, Clash Royale, Fortnite, CSGO and Call of Duty, competitions and events produced for eSports league the LVP and other international events, along with commentary and analysis from well-know eSports personalities including Ibai Llanos, Ulises Prieto and BarbeQ.

Mediapro said the launch of U-BEAT would consolidate its strategic commitment to the eSports sector, which through the integration of Frandroid and The Breach Studios has given it a presence in Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Peru and the UK as well as Spain, with more than 20 unique users and a claimed 75% share of the global Spanish-speaking eSports audience.
