DAZN secures extended Serie A rights for Germany and Austria

Sports streaming platform DAZN has secured exclusive rights to Italian Serie A football in Germany and Austria for the next three seasons, and co-exclusive rights in Japan and Canada.

DAZN has secured the exclusive rights to air 380 Serie A matches in Germany and Austria during the three seasons from 2018. The OTT TV platform has secured exclusive digital rights to Italian top-tier football in Canada, while in Japan it will have the rights to screen one top pic exclusively every other week and up to seven other matches each week.

The new deal extends DAZN’s coverage of Serie A and In Germany, Austria and Japan. In Canada, DAZN previously had access to Serie A through a carriage agreement with BeIN Sports.

The agreement reinforces DAZN’s relationship with Serie A following its agreement with the Italian league in its domestic market. In Italy, DAZN secured the rights to 114 exclusive Serie A matches and all Serie B fixtures ahead of the launch of its OTT platform in the country.

The Italian service will also feature Spain’s La Liga, France’s Ligue 1 and 2, Latin American competitions the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana, the Africa Cup of Nations, the English FA Cup and WFL Cup, the US NHL and MLB competions, and rugby’s Heineken Champions Cup and Guinness Pro14, as well as UFC, Matchroom Boxing, Showtime Boxing, Bellator MMA, PDC Darts and the World Rally Championship.
