Orange had 8.7 million TV customers as of the end of June, up 7% year-on-year, boosted by strong growth in Spain.
The group’s Spanish pay TV numbers leapt by 42.2% year-on-year to 541,000. Orange’s broadband base in Spain grew by 4.4% year-on-year to 4.2 million, with the fibre base growing by 60% to reach 1.9 million.
In its domestic French market, Orange’s TV base grew modestly, from 6.51 million in June 2016 to 6.74 million at the end of the second quarter of 2017.
Orange also grew its TV base in Belgium and Luxembourg, where its launch of the Love convergent mobile, broadband and TV offering attracted 64,000 customers following the operator’s debut as a convergent player in the market. TV customers numbered 68,000 at the end of June, up from 13,000 a year earlier.
In Romania, Orange’s TV base grew by 15.3% year-on-year to reach 351,000, including satellite customers, while its broadband base stood at 124,000.
In Moldova, the local unit’s TV service had 98,000 customers at the end of June. Orange had 45,000 for its broadband service.
However, in Poland, Orange’s TV base declined from 803,000 to 792,000.
