Portuguese cable and pay TV operator NOS has renewed is current exclusive sponsorship deal with the country’s football league for a further three years until the 2020-21 season.
NOS has sponsored the league since 2015.
Ana Paula Marques, executive board member of NOS, said that the deal would ensure that Portugal’s main football league would continue to be known as the Liga NOS and that the group would continue to apply state-of-the-art technology and a multiplatform approach to bring coverage of the league’s games to fans.
Pedro Proença, president of the Portuguese league, the LPFP, said that the agreement brought together two organisations that are united in values and objectives.
The majority of the league’s games are televised by the Sport TV channel, originally a joint venture between NOS and Portuguese businessman Joaquin Oliveira via his Olivedesportos vehicle. Ownership of the channel was opened up last year to include Portugal’s other main TV operators, ensuring that matches were available across different pay TV platforms.
