Latvian telco Lattelecom and national broadcaster Latvijas Televīzija have jointly secured the rights to broadcast the World Ice Hockey Championship for the next six years.
The competition is the country’s most popular sporting event. Lattelecom will for the first time provide a dedicated hockey channel, offering 24/7 coverage in HD. The telco and Latvijas Televīzija will collaborate to create social media content, interviews and behind the scenes coverage.
Lattelecom willalso provide coverage of the competition via internactive TV and apps and will make coverage available in both Latvian and Russian.
The pair struck a deal with Infront Sports & Media, which markets the rights for the competition. The rights include the 2018 competition, scheduled to take place in Denmark.
