Liberty Global has confirmed John Reid as CEO of its recently-acquired Caribbean unit Cable & Wireless Communications.
Reid, who is currently interim CEO of the unit, was previously president of C&W’s consumer division. Prior to that, he was president and chief operating officer at Columbus Communications, which merged with C&W in 2015.
Reid, who also previously worked as EVP and chief operating officer at Canadian cable outfit Persona, serves as chairman of C&W subsidiary Bahamas Telecommunications Company.
As CEO of C&W he will be tasked with aligning the company with Liberty Global’s new Latin America and Caribbean (LiLAC) unit.
“This is a time of meaningful change and development for C&W, and I am excited for the expertise and continuity that John brings to this growing region,” said Mike Fries, CEO of Liberty Global.
“I am honoured to lead C&W Communications into the next phase of our development. I look forward to achieving our growth objectives, creating greater value for our stakeholders, and transforming our employee and customer experience,” said Reid.
