Liberty Global-owned UPC Austria has launched the new version of the operator Horizon advanced TV service.
The updated version of the platform comes with a new user interface with more visual elements to aid navigation along with additional information about shows and a quick overview of each title. The service also provides personalised recommendations, pause live TV and the ability to record up to four channels simultaneously.
The latest Horizon box comes with a 500GB hard-disk drive and offers a variety of built-in apps including YouTube on TV.
Liberty Global revealed in May that it was creating a single new advanced set-top box for all European markets, codenamed EOS. The device is designed to provide more services from the cloud. The box is also being rolled out in the UK, where Liberty Global-owned Virgin Media delivers advanced TV services using technology provided by TiVo, rather than the Horizon platform used in other territories.
