DTS to showcase range of solutions

DTSAudio specialist DTS will use IBC to highlight its newly released DTS:X Encoder Suite, Manzanita Systems software updates, broadcast radio technologies and new VR audio solutions.

The DTS:X tools allow digital media content professionals to create and QC DTS:X immersive audio, according to DTS. The DTS:X Encoder Suite includes the DTS:X Encoder and DTS:X MediaPlayer applications for Mac OS X. The DTS:X Encoder is a professional, stand-alone compression tool that allows users to produce immersive DTS content for Blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray, as well as file-based and streaming media.

Following on from the DTS-HD MediaPlayer, the DTS:X MediaPlayer gives digital media professionals the ability to test DTS audio against video prior to final multiplexing, authoring or packaging.

In addition, DTS will showcase updates for two Manzanita products. MP2TSME V8.1 improves transport stream multiplexing support for HEVC video, enhanced closed caption and DVB subtitle handling. MP4Mux V3 adds MP4 multiplexing support for HEVC, additional audio codecs including DTS:X technology, an improved ability to repackage TS and MP4 files, encryption, and timed text, according to DTS.

DTS will also be demonstrating its Global Hybrid Radio reference platform for cars and mobile devices. This solution will support global radio standards including analog AM/FM, DAB/DAB+ and HD Radio broadcasting.

A new DTS VR audio solution featuring DTS Headphone:X technology for Android and iOS in-app SDKs will also be demoed during IBC. DTS Headphone:X technology produces immersive 3D sound through headphones and earbuds.

Net-M DOCOMO and SPB TV will be presenting DTS Headphone:X solutions for Android and iOS at their IBC stand as well.

DTS decoders have recently been integrated in set-top boxes used by a number of European telecommunications providers including Bouygues Telecom, Free, Orange and Swisscom.

“Participating at IBC for a number of years now, we’re proud to showcase our latest innovative audio solutions, including the next generation of creator tools and updates to Manzanita Systems software,” said Geir Skaaden, executive vice president, products, platforms and solutions, DTS.

“DTS is continually improving its technologies to deliver the best solutions for streaming and broadcast services.”
