UPC Austria sets out analogue switch-off plan

Liberty Global-owned cable operator UPC Austria has set out its schedule to complete the transition of its TV services to digital under a national initiative to phase out analogue cable services.

UPC will begin phasing out analogue services in Lower Austria, Wiener Neustadt, Baden and Reichenau from April 5. The digitisation process will continue on a region-by-region basis over the course of the year, with the Steiermark region to be digitised before the summer, followed by Upper Austria and Tyrol. In the autumn, analogue service will be phased out in Carinthia and Vararlberg. The process is set to be completed by early 2017, with the Vienna region the last to go.
