Sony has partnered with digital TV technology provider NeuLion to bring 4K live streaming to its 4K Ultra HD TVs.
Sony Visual Products will integrate NeuLion’s DivX CE SDK to deliver 4K live streams powered by the NeuLion Digital Platform, the companies announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
“As 4K OTT entertainment options such as live sporting events become more commonplace, we are pleased to partner with NeuLion to ensure a high-quality 4K live streaming experience on our 4K Ultra HD TVs,” said Nick Colsey, vice president of business development of Sony Visual Products.
NeuLion acquired video technology specialist DivX in January 2015 for US$62.5 million (€52.1 million), deal it said at the time would place it at the forefront of the 4K OTT video market and give it broader global reach.
