A drop in sales of TV sets and set-top boxes contributed to a decline in the German consumer electronics market in the first half of the year, according to figures compiled by consumer electronics retail association the GFU.
Sales in the CE sector dropped by 2.5% overall to €12.337 billion. Sales in TV sets declined by 16.5% to €1.8 billion, while sales in satellite receivers and set-top boxes dropped by 14.3%.
In terms of units shipped, TV sales fell by 16.1% to 3.3 million units by comparison with the same period last year.
The decline in TV and set-tops and other areas including automative multimedia, digital cameras and personal audio equipment was partially offset by growth in home audio, miniature cameras, home audio systems and video game consoles.
